By Air.

 

Weymouth is 120 miles (200km) to the Southwest of Heathrow airport, where most transcontinental flights will arrive.  However, Bournemouth airport is 40 miles away, to the East, and this has connections with many European destinations.  Car hire would be the most cost effective and convenient option for your onward travel.  Other airports in the region would be Bristol, Exeter and Southampton, all served by the smaller budget European airlines.

By Rail

Weymouth has a railway station on the line from London Waterloo where hourly trains take about 2h 40m.  This can be a relatively quick option, however tickets are best purchased in advance to avoid a nasty shock. See www.nationalrail.co.uk or call National Rail Enquiries 08457 484950

By Sea

Poole is the nearest ferry port, serving Cherbourg.  There is also a fast cat ferry to St. Malo via Jersey.

Portsmouth and Plymouth are also within 2 hrs or so drive.

Dover, Folkestone or Harwich are about 3 - 4 hrs drive away.

By Road

Most people will arrive in Weymouth by road.  Please don't worry if you come from a country where they drive on the wrong side of the road, you will very quickly get the hang of it!

We will assume most visitors will come from the London direction.  From the M25 (the London orbital motorway) take the M3 towards Southampton. It joins the M27 just North of Southampton, and follow the signs to Bournemouth. The M27 then becomes the A31.  Keep on the A31 until it ends at Bere Regis, then take the A35 to Dorchester. At the South of Dorchester you will take the A354 to Weymouth. Remain on the A354 following the signs to Portland. This will bring you to the causeway linking Weymouth with Portland.  At the end of this causeway you will reach a mini-roundabout. You can see the Academy's blue buildings to your left Turn left here, signposted ‘Sailing Academy’.  Take the 2nd entry gate into the Academy after the Blue buildings.

By Bus
